Previewing Newsletters
Now that your newsletter is created, you will now be ready to send it to your contact databases. Before sending out a newsletter, you will have the opportunity to select some additional menu options.
If you have just clicked the Add or Update and Preview after finishing your newsletter, you should see a menu options screen like the one below. This menu allows you to make a few final tweaks and place "extras" on your newsletter.
Extra Menu Options
If you wish to include any of these items, check the box to the corresponding item or select a choice from the corresponding dropdown menu. Note that your system may not include all of these items.
-
From: When a newsletter is sent to a contact, it will enter that person's inbox like a normal email. The recipient of the newsletter will see who the email is from by reading whatever you type in this text box.
The default text will be your company name. However, you can edit this to read anything you wish, such as a person's name or an abridged name of your company. -
Subject: The recipients of your newsletter will also be able to read the Subject Line of your newsletter email before opening it. The default Subject Line is "Golf Specials." Edit this field to read the Subject Line you wish.
NOTE: When entering a Subject Line, do not use exclamation marks (!) or other non-text symbols, because most Spam filters will automatically flag your newsletter email as Spam. Use only letter characters and numbers when typing text in the Subject Line.
-
Show Web Link: Sometimes when a newsletter is received by a recipient's email inbox, the content on the newsletter email may not appear correctly because the email programs may be disabling HTML or color properties. If this occurs recipients will be able to click on a link above the newsletter that states: "Click here if you are having problems viewing this email."
When this link is clicked, a new Internet browser window will open up displaying the newsletter in the correct format. This option is automatically checked for you, so you will not need to worry about remembering to activate this option.
-
Show Image Header: When creating a newsletter, you are creating only the body of the newsletter. Cybergolf has automatically designed you an image header which displays some pictures of your facility and a company logo.
By checking this option, you will be able to place the header above the newsletter body. The image header gives your newsletter company branding and adds more visual appeal to your newsletter. Below is an example of how the image header is looks on a newsletter:
The image header is an option that is automatically checked. If you uncheck the Show Image Header option, then the image will not appear on the newsletter. You may not always want to the image header, such as if you created your own newsletter header and uploaded it into the newsletter list of images.
-
Show Greeting: You can personalize your newsletters checking this option. When this option is activated a "Dear SUBSCRIBER_NAME" statement will appear on the top of the newsletter. The "SUBSCRIBER_NAME" is a variable which will automatically insert a contact's first name when the newsletter is sent out (i.e. Dear Tiger); if a contact does not have a first name, then the greeting will say "Dear Golfer."
-
Show Specials: By checking this option, you can post the list of coupons that you have activated to show up on your email broadcasts. This will list the coupons below the greeting on your newsletter as seen below:
If you check the this box and your coupon(s) do not display properly, it is probably because you did not activate the coupon to show up in the newsletter. Click Help with Coupons and look through step 9 to learn how to activate a coupon to show on a newsletter.
-
Add a Tournament/ Pro Shop Link: The newsletter menu options also allows you add a link to one of your shops created through the Cybergolf eCommerce System. You can post links to a secure online shop, where recipients of your newsletter can purchase a product directly from their email. Adding a tournament / pro shop link to your newsletter a couple weeks before a holiday, such as Fathers Day, Christmas, and Valentines Day can really drive sales.
-
In order to insert a shop link to your newsletter, check the box and then choose a shop in the drop down menu.

Use Survey: This feature adds a survey section to the newsletter, which then allows the user to select which survey he or she would like to add. The newsletter will display a link that will open a survey that you created using Cybergolf's Survey Creator.

Select Newsletter: You can use this option to quickly bring up an old existing newsletter by clicking the drop down menu. When you are ready to preview, make sure that the title of your newsletter is selected in the drop down menu.
- Show "Regards" Section (Salutation): This feature is also automatically selected as well. By having this option activated, the newsletter will display the course (company) information. If you need to make a change to the regards section text, see Adjusting Course Information.
